WV CLASS 5-A – SECTION 1 PLAYOFFS

WHEELING PARK 1 – BROOKE 0

n        The Patriots score their lone run in the bottom of the 5th inning to get the win

n        Kaylee Kuchinski suffered the tough circle loss for Brooke, surrendering just 1-run on 8-hits while striking out a batter

JOHN MARSHALL 5 – WHEELING PARK 4

n        Alexa Jones drove in Morgan Watson with out in the bottom of the 12th to give the Monarchs a 5-4 extra innings win

n        John Marshall now advances to the winner of today’s elimination game between Brooke and Wheeling Park … the game is set for Wednesday afternoon

INDIAN CREEK 8 – CARROLLTON 2

n        The Redskins jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead after one inning and never looked back

n        Ashley Starr struck out 6-batters to get the circle win and keep Carrollton in check

o         At the plate, Starr singled twice and drove in a run

§          Paige Geanangel doubled, singled twice and knocked in 3-runs

§          Beckah Mazar homered, singled twice and drove in 2 in the win

n        Indian Creek improves to 17-5 with the win

WEIRTON MADONNA 7 – BROOKE 5

n        The Blue Dons bats came alive after being shutdown over the first 3-innings as Madonna managed to score all 7 of its runs over the final 4-innings to get the big road win

n        FRESH-Kaleb Baire came on in relief of Will Bowser to strike out 3-batters and get the win as Madonna used 4 pitchers in the contest

n        Offensively, Chris Duerr doubled, singled twice and knocked in 3-runs for the Blue Dons

o         Ross Comis, Nick Ossman, Daniel Pietranton and Will Bowser also collected RBIs

n        Brooke was fueled by Kelean Welch’s RBI double

o         Paul DiPasquale also singled and collected 2-RBIs

TORONTO 6 – STEUBENVILLE 5

n        Ralph King surrendered just 5-hits and held Steubenville hitless until the 4th inning to help give Toronto the win

o         King also worked his way out of a 7th inning jam, giving up 2-late runs but went the distance and preserve the 1-run win

n        Steubenville was hurt by 6-fielding errors in the contest

n        For Toronto, Spenser Sninchak doubled in a run

n        Starting Pitcher Matt Petrella suffered the mound defeat for Big Red despite only surrendering 3-hits, including no hits until the 4th inning

o         Ryan Vojvodich homered and drove in 2-runs in the loss for Big Red

n        The win improves Toronto to 13-7 overall

OAK GLEN 14 – MAGNOLIA 7

n        The Golden Bears score 9-runs in their final two at bats to get the surprise win on the road against the Blue Eagles

n        Jeff Hissam doubled, singled and drove in 2-runs in the win

o         Steve Barr tripled, doubled, singled, collected a sacrifice fly and knocked in 3-runs

o         Tyler Stead had a single and 2-RBIs

EDISON 14 – EAST LIVERPOOL 0

n        Pitching and solid hitting keeps the winning streak going for the Wildcats

n        Greg Stagani struck out 5 and surrendered just 3-hits in the road shutout win

o         At the plate, Stagani homered, doubled and collected 4-RBIs

o         Chad Wickham also doubled in 2-runs for Edison

n        The Wildcats improve to 20-2 overall

STEUBENVILLE CENTRAL 13 – BELLAIRE 1

n        The Crusaders get back to their winning ways with a lopsided road win

n        The bats were hot as Steubenville Central collected 20-hits in the contest

n        The Crusaders built an 8-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 4th before Bellaire would score its only run

n        Brenton Colabella tripled, doubled, singled and drove in 2-runs to lead Central

o         Kyle Laukert doubled twice and drove in 2

o         Aleks Porreca singled twice and notched 2-RBIs in the win

n        On the mound, Jimmy Panella and Porreca combined for 6-strikeouts and surrendered just 6-hits in the win for Steubenville Central

WHEELING CENTRAL 10 – BUCKEYE LOCAL 9          

n        The Panthers scored 5-runs in the top of the 5th to take a 9-7 lead, but it wasn’t enough as the Maroon Knights managed to score 3-runs over their final two at-bats to notch the 1-run win

n        Jonathan Borkoski managed 3-singles for the Panthers in the road loss

CARROLLTON 10 – INDIAN CREEK 4

n        Carrollton broke open a 6-3 game in the top of the 7th by scoring 4-runs to preserve the road win

n        Sammy Orr singled twice and drove in a run for the Creek in the loss

o         Ty Yocum singled twice and also collected an RBI

n        The Redskins improve to 9-14 with the win

INDIAN CREEK 3 – STEUBENVILLE 2

n        Fabio Mattina and Shane Winland earned singles wins in the match for Creek

n        The team of Brandon Harrick and Justin Caniff were victorious for the Redskins at doubles

n        For Steubenville, Michael Nodianos earned a singles win

n        The team of Hannah Meyer and Tyler Casto picked up a doubles win for Big Red
